My life is filled with children. I was a Head Start teacher for ten years, a Kindergarten teacher for seven years, and am now an elementary school counselor. I have been a foster mom since 2013. Some children come and go from my home (forever in my heart), but two are here to stay, adopted from foster care at the ages of 10 and 7. I’ve met kids all over the world. I have lots of siblings and cousins and nieces and nephews and the kind of house where kids ride their bikes over to get hot chocolate in the winter and freeze pops in the summer. I love kids. I have a stretchy heart that just keeps expanding as I meet and fall in love with new kids every year. But my absolute favorite thing about children is the way they see the world. Most of what I know to be true about justice, love, heaven, forgiveness, and peace, I’ve learned from a child. And I thought it was about time I passed those lessons on.
